If there’s something trending in this now-smartphone world, that’s 18:9 display, FaceID, and iPhoneX. And taking that trend into consideration OnePlus brings the FaceID-like feature to last year flagships; OnePlus 3 & 3T with their newest Oxygen OS 5.0 update.
The FaceID-like feature has already been there in the company’s 2017 flagship OnePlus 5T. Dropping that feature to the OnePlus 3 & 3T could excite the phone owners, or kinda mess that up too. Because in the OnePlus 5T, you just have to face the phone’s front to unlock the phone. However, with the latest update in OnePlus 3 & 3T, you have to swipe the screen after you face the phone’s front. Also, it’s not instant like in the OnePlus 5T, it takes to tap “Unlock” button.
Honestly, there are too much of unnecessary compulsory interactions to benefit this FaceID-like feature on OnePlus 3 & 3T with their Oxygen OS 5.0 update.
- First, Tap “Unlock” button
- Face the phone’s front
- then, Swipe the screen
This looks and sounds too much of hassle if compared to regular “Fingerprint Scanner.” So, there is something to wonder if it’s of any use!
This feature has been there in the settings, but with the update, it’s quite improved. You can access the feature by;
- Go to “Settings”
- Select “Security & Fingerprint” under “Personal” Category
- Choose “Smart Lock”
- Setup the “Trusted Face”
- and you are ready to roll.
