However, trust me, there are still some wanderers that are quite unaware or unsure about what do the icons on Facebook messenger mean. So, here we are explaining the “What do the Facebook Messenger icon mean?”
But, before that let us let you know, there five Facebook Messenger icons!
What does the Facebook Messenger icon mean?
What Does Open Blue Circle Facebook Messenger icon mean?
This circular icon with blue outline and blank inside the circle is “Open Blue Circle” Facebook messenger icon. Moreover, this icon on messenger actually indicates that your message is sending. Means the message is in the process of being sent and Facebook servers have not received your messages. The user [at the other end of Messenger] doesn’t have to be compulsory connected to the internet to get the message sent from the sender.
What Does the Open Blue Circle with a Check Mark Facebook Messenger icon mean?
An “Open Blue Circle with Check Mark” icon on Facebook messenger means the message has been received and processed by the Facebook servers. Which, in simple language, this icon indicates that the message has been sent from your end. However, yet has to be seen by the user at the other end. The user at the other end, whom you are sending the message, doesn’t need to be connected to the internet. Now, you should be out of worries. Because even if your connection disconnects, the one at the other end will receive the message once they get connected to the internet.
[Note: There will be this icon even if the supposed-to-be recipient is connected to the internet. Because probably the supposed-to-be recipient is not your added to your Messenger or is on the Friends list. Which means that the message is in their “Connection Requests” section.]
What Does the Filled Blue Circle with a Check Mark Facebook Messenger icon mean?
This “Blue Circle with a Check Mark” icon on Facebook messenger means the message has been received by the user and marked as “delivered.” Moreover, which suggests that the user at the other end is now connected to the internet. However, they have not opened the messenger bubble head or particularly your message. The user has yet to see and read the message. They are off from the Messenger and has not typed/read any message lately.
[Note: The message will not be marked as delivered and this icon will not be there even if the recipient is connected to the internet. Because maybe you are not added to them in Messenger, and your messages rest on their “Connection Requests” section.
Also, there might still be this icon even if the user at the end has read the message. Its because probably they read the messages from the Notification bar.]
What Does the “Small Version of your Friend’s Photo” Facebook Messenger icon mean?
This means that the recipient has read/seen the message. Simple as that. However, the recipient will be shown online — as “Active Now” — even for a moment, though the recipient has turned the chat off.
What Does the “Red Triangle with an Exclamation Mark” Facebook Messenger icon mean?
A “Red Triangle with an Exclamation Mark” should only appear when your connection has suddenly broken.
A message appears alongside the red triangle that says “This message did not send. Check your internet connection and click to try again”. However, you should not navigate away from the Messenger or close the tab/app until your connection is restored or the message is marked as “sent.”
