Ahh ! Time flies, right! And it has been around 6 years plus since the Android gained the fame with the release of Android 2.3 on Dec 2010. And yesterday 2017 Feb 17, it seems Android 2.3 is dead officially.
Even after 6 years, Android Gingerbread is not totally stable. It has some bugs and yet it can be still found living in the 1% of the phones and we believe this will fall below 1% as the Google Play Service is no more supported by the phones running on Android 2.3
Google yesterday, 2017 Feb 17,released Android payment service Google Pay along with the latest Google Play Services version 10.2, the biggest change is to give up the support for Android 2.3.
In fact, in November last year, Google already made it clear that Google Play Services 10.0 would be officially the last version that supports Android 2.3
In fact, code-named “Honeycomb” Android 3.0 is also abandoned, because Google Play Services 10.2 requires Android API interface level of the lowest 14, that is, which starts at Android 4.0.
Android 2.3 saw its last updated version 2.3.7 released on September 21, 2011, it’s no doubt that this series is the best and popular, well-known milestone, especially after the Android 3.0 specifically for the flat-panel bigger tablets brutally failed but but Android 2.3 has to go and now Android 2.3 dead for good!
